Why Is Socializing Your Dog Important?

Social skills are vitally important to your dogs well being. Let us give you some examples of what non-socialized dogs do.
  1. They can be very fearful and try to hide all the time from other dogs. This can instigate being picked on by other dogs who like to bully.
  2. They are a higher risk for bites and fights because their weakness or nipping can make other dogs mad.
  3. They may not be capable of being boarded at any open, fun boarding place like Allstar Canine Solutions©, therefore having to go to kennels who cage 24/7.
  4. They can nip at grandkids, knock people down and be annoying in public.
  5. They make owners nervous wrecks worrying about them all the time which makes the dog worse as all dogs pick up on our emotions so much.
  6. They can have urination, bowel or stomach problems from not being emotionally stable and so nervous all the time.
  7. They have over anxiety when they see other dogs because of lack of exposure to dogs and they are at risk of running away when scared.
We heard one authority say; Just throw them into the pack and let them learn. Well, that's a great way to possibly end up with some vet bills and maybe traumatize your dog for the rest of his life. Others by lack of know-how and by having so much fear are so over protective of their dogs that they remove him from any potential problem or exposure. That takes care of an immediate danger but it teaches the dog nothing.

Most all dog problems can be helped by a good trainer. Unfortunately we have seen too many dogs given up that could have been helped with just a little time. Here is a quote from our owner: "Ya know, the older I get the more I have learned that the initial excitement we feel when we buy or get something feels great but it's the after time that holds more responsibility and obligation." Please See: Education-Siberians. It can't be said enough. Get prepared, just like having a baby, with finances, schooling, education, and a good, safe and permanent home to offer a dog to.

Taking responsibility is hard sometimes but remember; your dog is just being a dog. If weaknesses are ignored and bringing your dog to the level of being well balanced is not worked at then it is human error - not dog error. Socializing your dog is an ongoing process. Know that most unwanted behaviors only get worse in time.

Dogs that are not use to changes and all the sites and sounds of the world, who only know a routine at home, can many times react with new bad behaviors when any change is made. Like a child moving in or a new dog brought in or a home location change.
